Pam Wright My decision to pursue a career in “Golf” is the final culmination of experiences growing up in Scotland and scholastic opportunities in the United States. My golf career started at the wee age of four. My father, Innes was a professional golfer in Scotland and my mother, Janette was herself an accomplished golfer with four Scottish Championship wins and four appearances in the Curtis Cup (1954,1956,1958 and 1960). It would be my father who would become my instructor and mentor for the next 33 years of my life. My first golf tournament was at the age of 10 and by 16, I was in Paris with the Scottish National Girl’s Team. Though the pace of school and practice was intense, I pursued golf with one vision, “to play on the LPGA tour.” At 19, I developed a friendship with soon to be LPGA star, Heather Farr. I met Heather while playing golf in the 1984 British Women’s Championship at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland. She would later go back to the USA and tell Coach Linda Vollstedt at Arizona State University who I was and what I had accomplished. I was recruited to ASU at the age of 20; where I learned the skills necessary to become the LPGA professional I am today. Career Achievements - 2004 Arizona State University Hall of Fame - 2000 & 2002 Solheim Cup Vice Captain - 1990, 1992, & 1994 Solheim Cup Competitor - 22 Top Ten finishes on the LPGA Tour - 1989 LPGA Rookie of the Year - 1988 Academic All American - 1986 PAC-10 Most Valuable Player - Two-time All-American - Twice PAC-10 Champion I have enjoyed 15 years as a touring LPGA professional and whilst my career was not an ordinary route, I feel that my experiences around the world have given me the self confidence, flexibility and leadership to benefit my golfing clients.
